So the time has finally arrived! We’ll soon be off on the very first Boo & Maddie staycation and although there is still an enormous amount to do before we set off (including actually packing!) I’m very excited.
We’ll be driving all the way down to the furthest point in Cornwall with pooch in tow for a couple of nights before heading up to the North Cornwall coast for another couple of nights and then onto my aunt who lives in South Devon. It will be great for the dog who LOVES water.
I’ve got super fond memories of this part of the country as my aunt has spent most of my life living in Devon and so a fair few school holidays were spent there. Despite that somehow it’s been at least 15 years since I was last down there and it will be lovely to back down memory lane.
We’re looking forward to lots of long walks, stunning scenery and delicious seafood (and maybe a scone or twelve?) but sadly I think it’s going to be less swimsuit weather and more waterproofs so hopefully we’ll find a nice log fire along the way.
With that in mind I’m planning my packing list, here are some essentials for me as a sufferer of debilitating cold-intolerance:
- Hot water bottle
- Waterproof trousers
- Dressing gown
- Thermal socks
- Wellies
- Walking boots
- Bobble hat
- Winter coat
- The dog (she’s a great source of warmth!)
If it wasn’t a ridiculous idea I’d take my electric blanket but am hoping that if I just wrap up in layer upon layer I’ll be ok and lots of walking will keep me warm.
We’ll no doubt be posting lots of piccies over on Instagram especially ones of Maddie on the beach – the first time she’ll see the sea! Can’t wait.
