When I was a teenager in the 90s, I had a beanbag in my room. I’m sure most kids did or maybe even still do. It’s not the kind of furnishing that would have ever been allowed in the living room and remembering the pattern I can totally understand why (although to be fair, our living room was also a doyenne of 90s style…remember those sofas with the frilly extra bits of material around the bottom? Hey Ma, Chelsea Flower Show called and wants its garden back). But I digress. My beanbag had that very distinctive pattern which I’m sure had a name, where it was all dots, triangles, squiggly lines…I want to say astro but maybe I’m way off.
Fast forward *ahem* a few years and beanbags are very much alive and kicking. I’d been toying with the idea a little while ago of getting a beautiful faux fur one that I could cosy up with in front of the fire in the living room during winter, having spotted some beautiful ones on Instagram. And then we cracked on with the living room renovations and the dynamics of what we needed changed again.
But when Beanbag Bazaar popped me a lovely email one afternoon asking if I’d like to collaborate on a review and giveaway it felt like all my Christmases were coming true at once. We’ve got a funny-sized living room. Plenty of space for a two-seater and three-seater sofa, it still somehow feels a bit cramped when we have 4 adults in the room sitting on those sofas and so invariably either Pete or I end up on the floor in the bay window.
I had a look through the Beanbag Bazaar website and spotted the perfect solution in the shape of the ICON Milano Velvet Armchair Beanbag. I measured up and the dimensions are perfect for our bay window plus it came in a beautiful soft pink colour to perfectly match the flowers in my Linwood wallpaper. It’s a great solution for our lack of seating and whilst I do eventually want a chair for this corner, it can then find a new lease of life in one of our spare bedrooms and be brought down whenever we need it.
Delivery was seamless and certainly kept me entertained of a Friday evening. The chair arrives part filled in one box with a separate box of extra beans inside a giant netting. Described as a two person job to fill the rest of the chair, I of course didn’t have the patience to wait for Pete and instead used a jug to transport beans to chair. And it was almost foolproof, I only lost a few a long the way.
We’ve had the chair now for a couple of weeks and it’s as though it was always meant to be there. It’s incredibly comfy to sit in and I quite often work there or curl up with a book. That is, when I’m not fighting Boo or Maddie for prime position. They’ve taken quite a shine to it too! Thank you so much Beanbag Bazaar for transforming this little spot in our living room.
