I feel so fortunate to live in a time when we don’t have to save everything ‘for best’. That’s not meant to sound flippant at all. But from our crockery to our food, we can enjoy and appreciate what we have, making the most of every day. I was delighted when Robert Welch got in touch to collaborate. For starters, a stylish luxury cutlery set makes me feel like a proper grown up. Plus, I know it’s something I’ll use every day, appreciating that little extra luxury at mealtimes.
I remember my Grandad’s special cutlery, in one of those wooden canteens that sat in the corner of his dining room. Then my parents had a ‘for best’ cutlery set, not in its own wooden box but kept carefully wrapped up until they had a dinner party. Then we had to painstakingly unwrap and clean each piece before it could be used.
Why to stand on ceremony though? Let’s embrace those moments and give every day a little bit of something extra special. Think how much more enjoyable meals are when we can appreciate our utensils, perfect for my focus on mindfulness focus at the moment. And there’s really nowhere better to look for the most beautifully designed implements than Robert Welch.
Robert Welch founded his iconic British brand in 1955, fresh out of the Royal College of Art. Life began in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds which is where the company is still based today, now with Robert’s children at the helm. He pioneered the introduction of stainless steel to the UK, in so doing creating a range of affordable products which possessed a timeless, elegant beauty.
Aside from cutlery, the brand offers a wealth of homewares and interiors. Stylish candlesticks, lamp bases, fire tools, saucepans. I could think of nowhere better to look for a wedding gift or Christmas present. Our beautiful Arden set came in a sleek, modern gift box adding to the whole experience. We’re off to the Cotswolds in October and I’m definitely planning to make a beeline for their showroom.
In terms of their cutlery collections, there is so much to choose from. My selection? It had to be ‘Arden’, opting for the 24 piece cutlery set, £125.00. It is so sleek and elegant, minimalist in design with gradually tapering handles. It feels beautiful to hold, with spoons and forks made using the highest quality 18/10 stainless steel. All of the collection is available with a mirror finish, has a 25 year guarantee and is dishwasher safe.
For me it’s the perfect hybrid, suitable for a casual summer evening in the garden or a stylish dinner party. There really doesn’t need to be a special cutlery set, hidden away and gathering dust. We should be celebrating living every day. And now, with the Arden range from Robert Welch we can just do that. Now I’m looking forward to mealtimes even more.
Thank you so much to Robert Welch for gifting this beautiful set in return for a featured post. They’re currently running an offer of £20 off if you spend £100 or more. Just use code SOCIAL20 until August 31st.
