The Ultimate Movie Night Checklist

If there’s one thing I really love, it’s a good movie. I grew up in the 80s and 90s which to me, was the golden era of the classic blockbuster and there’s nothing I love more than getting lost in another world for a couple of hours. We’re very lucky and have two incredible cinemas within walking distance from the house, but with autumn knocking on the door it’s just as much fun to cosy up at home.

It’s so easy now to find great movies to watch too with all of the readily-available streaming services such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu or Showtime. So whether it’s a solo movie night for one or the girls are coming round, here’s everything you need for the ultimate movie night checklist:

A Snuggly Blanket

I’m a very cold body who would happily have a life-sized hot water bottle if such a thing existed. A snuggly super-cosy blanket is the next best thing and if you do have guests, make sure everyone has their own blanket to use. Perfect for hiding behind too in case of any scary moments!

And before tucking yourself in the blanket, get a quick tutorial on how to mirror iPhone to TV. Screen Cast is the tool that streams media from your device on a larger screen so knowing about it is crucial to ensure seamless streaming. With AirPlay’s wireless sharing with your Apple TV, your fun will be endless. Knowing how to cast iPhone to TV will ensure that the night goes off without a hitch to enjoy all the movie favourites.

Popcorn Maker

Popcorn is a quintessential movie snack, but not all popcorn is the same. Find the recipe for mouthwatering Buffalo Ranch Popcorn which is a big trend. It’s an amazing way to elevate your popcorn game. Air-popped popcorn tastes way better than the microwave variety, and it’s healthier too. You can easily adjust portion sizes.

Cosy Pyjamas

Comfy pajamas are a vital component of a successful binge-watching session. Who lounges in jeans, or worse, wears a bra when trying to relax? Get some good quality pajamas that are in trend. This way, you can fully enjoy the faux fur blanket’s plushness. Plus, the elastic waistband is a lifesaver for when you inevitably reach for more snacks.

Slip-On Slippers

Among the movie night must haves, shoes, and socks are a no-go when you’re sprawled out on the couch. Slip-on slippers are the ultimate relaxation footwear. Trendy slippers come in various colours. They add a touch of style, especially if you want images from your grand movie night on Instagram.

Serving Bowls

This is an essential if you’re having guests to make sure there is a variety of snacks and everyone can reach everything easily. I’ve definitely one of those bashful ones at a gathering wishing some Maltesers were more easily at hand…!

Wine

Can a movie night be complete without wine? It’s one of the big movie night essentials. Discovering new wines has become easier with online shops. They deliver wine right to your doorstep, sparing you the ordeal of navigating your local grocery store wine aisle. It’s especially helpful for novice wine drinkers (or even seasoned pros) because the online apps recommend different wines based on what you love to have. And there are now so many great alcohol-free varieties too!

Yummy Food

Technology means it is easy for you to have your favourite food through online order from your favourite restaurants. You can get it delivered right to your door within a few minutes to half an hour. Grubhub and UberEats are game-changers. You can order anything from Chinese to Mexican food or anything else that you and your guests love.

Sweet snacks

Where there are savoury snacks, there must also be sweet ones. I’m a big fan of a bowl of chocolates to dive into to offset all that salt!

Candles

Of course you want to create the right ambience. Candles create a Zen atmosphere, and you can’t get enough of them as they are one of the main movie night items. Not only do they enhance the ambiance, but they also make things smell delightful. Just use them when you have guests over to create the perfect environment.

Are you ready for a movie night? Ask your guests for their favourite movies for movie night at home and also their favourite snacks. Try to give them the best experience and in turn, it’s sure to make the time memorable for you. Use the time to share an experience that makes the whole environment lively. And it should give you enough opportunities to take the best pictures and cool videos for TikTok and Instagram.

    Heya.

I’ve always been a fan of family movie nights in order to relax at night. I think that certainly they are a classic feel good activity idea really. Turn off all the room lights, make some nice popcorn and have a glass of wine too. Or a mug of hot chocolate. I recently introduced family game and book nights in addition here. Pick a nice film in question first of all. Order a Oriental takeout. Use a few different plastic bowls in any case. Good luck and it is a real pleasure to meet you. Sweet nibbles are cool. I personally like to have a plate of snacks to give out. Eat wraps.
But this is your choice to make however. I love to have a warm fire for heat. Plus you can call it a night after a while. Seriously. Choose a movie theme. Take it from there. One way to find a movie is to use the search function on Netflix. Invite other local guests over. A movie and a chat date night is also a option. You can even watch a movie on a iPad these days or on a projecter and be old school. Nothing beats a takeout on film club night.
