What To Pack For A Two-Week Caribbean Cruise

Stunning beaches, vibrant colours, rich cultures and mouthwatering cuisine: there are endless reasons why the Caribbean is one of the world’s top cruise holiday destinations. Make sure you have everything you need for your two-week trip so it’s smooth sailing from start to finish.

Plan for the weather

Navigating the Caribbean climate can be tricky, but one thing’s for sure: it will be hot! Light garments made from breathable materials like linen will be most comfortable, and you must take measures to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays with a wide-brimmed sunhat, sunglasses and SPF protection.

Especially during the wet season – but at any time of year thanks to the high humidity – you can experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. These typically occur at night, blowing out well before morning, but it’s still a good idea to carry a raincoat and closed-toe shoes.

Prepare to explore onshore

You won’t spend all of your time on the cruise ship; once you arrive in the Caribbean, most days will be devoted to exploring onshore. This will include time on the beach, so swimwear and suitable cover-ups are a must. Slip-on shoes will safeguard the soles of your feet from hot sand.

If you want to venture further inland to explore the lush countryside, you’ll need shorts and boots and would benefit from a refillable water bottle and backpack to carry your essentials.

Stops at larger ports will also be included, so take outfits suitable for a hot-weather city break such as loose trousers and a thin top. Pair with trainers for longer walks or sandals if you’re just heading to a local café for a refreshing drink and to sample authentic Caribbean cuisine.

Dressing for nights onboard

While relaxed clothing is ideal for your daytime activities, formal outfits will fit the bill in the evenings, especially if you’re travelling with one of the larger leading companies like P&O Cruises which offers multiple dining options and incredible entertainment.

Nighttime dining attire should range from evening casual such as a nice shirt and jeans to black tie outfits like a full suit, tuxedo, cocktail dress or ballgown. Feeling congruous with the theme of the evening and the other guests will ensure you enjoy all of your nights onboard.

Wellness essentials

Whenever you’re preparing to go abroad, health and safety essentials should be prioritised in your packing list. Create a first-aid kit with the basics including wound dressings, cleansing wipes and hand sanitiser, insect repellent, painkillers, antiseptic cream and disposable gloves. Remember to include any medication you’re on and any travel sickness tablets you might need.
