There are lots of things I love in life but London, food and colour sum them up pretty well. Last night the Southbank played host to one of the most colourful pop-ups I’ve ever seen as Old El Paso set up a delightful little cantina to launch their new ‘Mini Stand ‘n’ Stuff’ tortillas. Along with a mini-mariachi band, caramelised pineapple mocktails and a peep at the advertising campaign featuring Danny Trejo, the new tortilla range was on hand for sampling.
It’s fascinating to see how well-established brands continue to adapt and evolve, thinking outside the box and putting a new spin on their offerings. Old El Paso have come up with a collection of mini tortillas which are perfect for the whole family to both prepare and enjoy – perfectly sized for little hands, they’re specially designed in manageable bite-sized boats. On offer were beef, chicken or butternut squash-filled wraps which have a flat bottom making them even easier to fill and hold.
Our ‘mini’ waiters and waitresses did a great job of keeping us entertained and took to their roles as pretend grown-ups with gusto, adding an extra light-hearted touch to the event. There was also the chance to take part in a bit of fancy inflatable dress fun with blow-up cacti and colourful sombreros against a desert backdrop – who wouldn’t want to get involved!
The best news is that the pop-up is open today and tomorrow so you can pop along with your family and enjoy the fun, making your own tortillas and taking your very own Mexican selfies. If you can’t get to the pop-up, the mini tortilla pack is currently available at all major supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s with an RRP of £2.39.
Thank you so much to Old El Paso for inviting me to this event. All images are my own.
