Monday Catch-Up #52

I’m not afraid to say that last week was a very tiring week – a combination of being back at work after two weeks off sick and still in the tail end of recovery as well as the builders arriving at #ProjectSELondonHome AND having no proper hot water for the best part of 3 weeks which ended up being completely 100% cold for the past 4-5 days has not made for a particularly happy camper let me tell you.

But actually, now that I’ve had a couple of days to get used to it, the builders arriving IS exciting. When we moved into the house, we had two massive damp patches under the first and second floor landing windows where cracks on the side of the house had allowed rain water to get in and damage the inside walls. It’s taken us 2 and a bit years to finally get round to sorting it out and it’s now all systems go. They’re re-rendering the side and front of the house and painting it white, as well as changing the downpipes and cleaning/repairing the gutters, soffits and fascias so hopefully by the time they’re finished the house will look nicer and be more structurally sound. It’s SO noisy and SO dusty though – I was working at home on Thursday when the scaffolding arrived, then had to dash home from work on Friday because of a problem with the electrics and they were here all day Saturday…

Part of it too is to add kerb appeal and therefore value, it already looks so much better since we replaced the windows and added plantation shutters last year but they only highlighted how hideous the creamy/yellow colour is plus we have all these random wires hanging down which don’t appeal to my OCD-ness. It will all be worth it, hopefully.

In other highlights I spent a lovely evening at Pop Brixton on Tuesday with Barnaby & Co and Made By Mrs M learning to hand-sew a tote bag. The full post will be up on Wednesday but it was lovely to do something creative and get back into fun blogging activities.

Pimms was the order of the evening on Monday after finding this in the supermarket, far too easy to drink and certainly refreshing even if the summer weather has gone AWOL lately, I hope we have some warm days ahead as the longest day of the year is tomorrow. The sun did put in a rare appearance one morning as I made my way to the station however, it brightens up the whole day.

And on Sunday we took Maddie off to Chislehurst for a lovely long walk before stopping at the farmers market on our way home grabbing gluten free cakes for me and some liver treats for her, did you ever such a happy face at the top of this post?!

Hope you’ve had a lovely week X
