Monday Catch-Up #86

Happy hot days. When flipflops can be worn, jumpers left behind. The heat that hits you when you come out of an air-conditioned office. It’s my favourite. I know I’m alone in this. Everyone has been moaning and so it’s gone back to cold summer temperatures now. Windows are closed, jumpers donned once again. But those few days were absolutely blissful, long summer evenings and balmy mornings are my favourite.

We’ve had quite a quiet week, focusing on a DIY makeover of our main bathroom but I’m going through a homely phase at the moment so it’s perfect timing. Here’s what else we’ve been up to.

Comedy Night

The Battersea Arts Centre played host to a comedy night on Monday to raise funds for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire and we went along for a fun evening. It’s a beautiful old building that itself suffered a devastating fire a couple of years ago and it was lovely to find people yet again coming together to support each other. With Daniel Kitson as compere, we giggled our way through several sets before a long journey home. Such a late night for a Monday!

Home Life

After Carpetright came to fit our new bathroom flooring for a blog collaboration a couple of weeks ago, we finally got round to starting the rest of the project at the weekend. It’s not a complete bathroom overhaul since we don’t have budget and aren’t ready for that step of our renovation, but it’s amazing what a bit of a paint, a clean and some new furnishings can do. I’ve painted our dated patterned tiles black, cleaned the bath (it’s not a bathroom we use other than to wash the dog!) and fixed one of the showers. Pete took the door of its hinges to sand the bottom so it finally closes and we have some other treats up our sleeves. It felt good to be back to proper DIY-ing after a break since painting the bedroom.

Blogging Adventures

The blog throws so many unusual opportunities my way and last week saw my first ever ‘black food’ themed breakfast! It was to celebrate the launch of the new black stainless steel kitchen collection from KitchenAid and I toddled along to their amazing Experience Store up in town to see the range first hand. Totally swooning over everything. I’m really loving black at the moment, it’s so chic for interiors. Tomorrow’s post will include lots more detail so check back then!

Pete is off on a work trip this week coming so I’m going to be hunkering down with Netflix and binge-watching box sets (currently working my way through The Last Kingdom). Or maybe heading out with my workmates for drinks, who knows? I hope you have a fabulous week ahead X
